ABOUT ME

My name is Matt Grimmitt, and I’ve been making pots for almost 20 years. I am just as enthusiastic now as I was when I first began this journey. From 2012 to 2024, I worked as a manager at the historic Winchcombe Pottery in rural Gloucestershire. Winchcombe provided me with the extensive skills needed to become a production potter and taught me the discipline necessary to pursue my own career in making individual pots.

In my workshop, I create wheel-thrown slipware decorated with a range of slips, using various techniques to achieve finishes that I find incredibly exciting. By combing, trailing, and splashing slip, my pots exhibit movement and skill, with a certain finesse that only years of production can achieve.

To me, form is the most important aspect of my work. Here, you will find traditional baluster-style jugs, unique large pieces, mixing bowls and salad bowls, egg cups, and all manner of items for culinary use.

Whilst some of my pots are more decorative and look beautiful in a designated setting, each one is intended for use. Please enjoy them and allow them to be a part of your daily use.
